At Photokina, you get to see some weird and wonderful products, here we found an extreme telephoto lens for Astrophotography.
| Celestron EdgeHD Optics 3910mm f/11 in Interchangeable LensesAs part of Celestron's CGE Pro HD 1400 series, they offer a massive 3910mm f/11 telescope that can be attached to a camera for extreme telephoto star photography, with a T adapter. Considering the telephoto reach offered, you might be surprised to know that the lens is available for around £7000. The optical tube weighs 21kg (46lbs), and is 78.7cm (31inches) in length.
The Edge HD Optics lens is so heavy, that it comes with it's own balancing weights for use on the tripod, and an optional Wi-Fi control unit is available so that you can control it remotely for star tracking. The lens is an aplanatic Schmidt telescope, that corrects for optical aberrations, with a mirror lens construction that is also designed to give a flat focal plane which is needed for Digital camera's flat sensors.
We were able to have a look at the Celestron EdgeHD 14 at Photokina 2016.
