When shopping for a photo editing computer far too many buyers fail to look beyond Apple products when they could be purchasing a vastly more contemporary and powerful Windows-based PC for far less money. Chillblast has an enviable reputation in the photo and video editing market as the builder of the fastest professional workstations in the world. Their Fusion Photo OC VII is the fastest PC system ever tested by PC Pro Magazine and much of the same DNA that makes that system great can be found in their latest creation, the sublime Core i7 Custom Video and Photo Editing PC. Raw processing grunt often acts as the major bottleneck to performance when editing high-resolution DSLR stills and 4k video, so with 50% more power than the equivalent Mac Pro the CPU in this PC is in its element. ePHOTOzine recently reviewed the even more affordable “Fusion Photo OC Lite II” photo editing PC awarding it a 4.5 star highly recommended rating.
This CPU is reinforced by the latest NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB graphics card that makes the most of hardware acceleration support built into Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and the rest of the Creative Suite. They’ve gone to town on this PC’s storage system with an ultra-fast solid state primary drive making batch processing effortless and facilitating the huge multi-tasking potential of the rest of the system. Once the editing is done you have a massive 4TB secondary hard drive with the space for thousands of photographs and hours of high-resolution video included as standard. All of this is wrapped up into a quiet, professional looking workstation case which has bags of room for more storage if it's needed and has tool-free stress-free upgrades.
Outlined below is how Chillblast’s latest offering stacks up against the Apple Mac Pro competitor, which costs £900 more:
In Jargon free terms, here’s how the two stack up relative to one another:
The numbers really speak for themselves. Can you afford to pay nearly a thousand pounds more for your editing PC for a system that’s 50% less capable?

Does it have OpenGL 3.3 or better?
The CPU is not overclocked as standard, but this is something we'd be happy to do for you. It does have the capacity for more RAM - up to 128GB. If you'd prefer a 7200rpm drive we can switch this out for you at no extra charge. These changes would require a custom order, so 7 working day lead time rather than next day delivery, but is all doable with no additional costs. Open GL versions all the way up to 4.5 are fully supported by the GPU. Please drop us an email on [email protected] if you'd like for us to help you further, citing this post
