The annual Dog Photographer of the Year competition is back and looking for the next top dog photographer.
Founded in 2005, Dog Photographer of the Year has attracted thousands of images from photographers around the world, and last year received 10,000 entries from over 90 different countries. Monica van der Maden from the Netherlands was selected as the overall winner of the 2018 competition, with an image of Noa the Great Dane and before that, an adorable photo of a puppy resting was crowned the overall winner (2017).
This year's competition is accepting submissions in the following categories, of which 1 overall winner will be chosen from:
- Dogs at Play
- Portrait
- Oldies
- Dogs at Work
- Puppies
- Man's Best Friend
- Young Pup Photographer (for entrants aged 11 and under)
- 'I Love Dogs Because …' (for entrants aged between 12 and 17)
- Assistance Dogs
- Rescue Dogs
The overall winner receives a dedicated capsule exhibition of their own photographic work in the world-famous Kennel Club Art Gallery, and the Assistance Dog and Rescue Dog category winners receive a £500 donation from the Kennel Club Charitable Trust to their chosen dog charity. Photographers can also win a SmugMug photography website to showcase their work online and a one-day photography course offered by Nikon School UK, as well as a trophy and exhibition print from Loxley Colour presented at the awards ceremony
The competition, which is free to enter, is open to entries until 10 April 2019.
