Crested Grebe Awarded POTW Accolade: Great crested grebe

A lovely image of a great crested grebe cruising along with chicks has been awarded the POTW accolade this week.

The image titled 'Great Crested Grebe & Chicks' was taken by ePz member mufftrix was chosen by the team and here's why we thought it deserved to win the accolade:

This is a crisp capture of a great crested grebe, made all the more charming by the two humbug coloured chicks resting on her back as she glides along. The viewer is drawn to the orange colours of the plumage on her head and the bright red eye. Of course the two stripy chicks also catch the eye.

The composition of the shot is excellent, with the photographer managing to capture all of the birds looking in the same direction. They stand out well against the murky green backdrop and the reflecting water.
