Cullmann Stockholm Maxima 235+ Review:

The Cullmann Stockholm Maxima 235+ is a small shoulder bag designed to hold a compact mirrorless or advanced compact camera. There is also a smaller still bag available in the range, the 85+. Incorporating a Scandinavian minimalist design, Cullmann say it's a dual purpose photography and leisure bag. Here, we find out how it performs.

Cullmann Stockholm Maxima 235+ Features

The Stockholm Maxima 235+ is a slimline bag with 3 openings - a main compartment with dual zips, front pocket with single zip and rear pocket with single zip housing an all weather cover.

In the front pocket you'll find dividers for storing smaller accessories and stationery as well as an elastic loop which could be used to thread a pen through or secure a keyring.

In the main pocket which opens towards you for security, you'll find a zipped mesh pocket on the inside of the lid. On the left-hand side of the innards of the compartment, there is an elasticated mesh pocket and a velcro padded pocket. The right side of the compartment is where you store the camera, and there are 2 padded soft dividers which adjust to allow you to fit your kit. On the back wall of the bag, there is a padded tablet pocket which will hold an iPad Mini sized tablet.

On the back of the bag is a carry handle and a strong looking shoulder strap. There are 2 alternative ways to mount the strap, which can be detached at one end and moved for comfort. One is suited to wearing the bag across the body while the other will suit better for wearing the bag over one shoulder. The bottom of the bag has a tough layer that's water sealed.

Key Features

  • Holds compact mirrorless or advanced compact cameras
  • Room for iPad Mini and other small accessories
  • Built in rain cover
  • Waterproof toughened bottom
  • Adjustable strap
  • Sleek, simple design

The zips are smooth and easy to operate. The strap is secured by both a popper and velcro, to ensure that it stays put when altering the way you wear it. Altering where the strap attaches to the bag is easy - you simply pull it undone and thread it through the selected fitment.

Cullmann Stockholm Maxima 235+ Review:

When worn the bag is very comfortable, and because the bag is so small and light, even with kit loaded, it doesn't matter that the strap isn't padded. It's easy to access your kit on the go and having the ability to change the strap fixtures lets you wear the bag in a way that suits you.

Cullmann Stockholm Maxima 235+ Review:

The bag will comfortably fit a mirrorless camera like the OM-D E-M10 II with 45mm f/2.8 lens but this is about as large as you can go regarding lens length. There's also ample space for a battery charger and wallet / phone. If you want, the strap can also be completely removed so that the bag can be placed in a larger rucksack if you wish.

Value For Money

The Cullmann Stockholm Maxima 235+ is available for £44.99 in the UK. The quality of the build and material used seem really great, and the bag has a designer feel that some would guess you'd pay a lot more for.

Similar sized bags include the Lowepro Scout 120 shoulder bag available for £24.99, but it doesn't feature inward opening or a built-in rain cover. If you want to fit a small laptop or large iPad into your bag then the Think Tank Mirrorless Mover 30i also has room for extra lenses with a mirrorless camera but is more expensive, at £57.99.

Cullmann Stockholm Maxima 235+ Verdict

Overall, the Cullmann Stockholm Maxima 235+ is a very stylish, minimalist, well-designed bag that's made from top-quality materials and looks really inconspicuous.

It's just large enough for your camera and a standard zoom lens, as well as your personal effects. If you don't want to change lenses and want to travel light, this bag will be ideal for you. It's designed really well and the ability to alter the strap to your needs so that the bag fits you well is another great feature.
