Delkin Devices has introduced a 128Mb SmartMedia memory card. Nearly 48% of digital cameras currently available support SmartMedia - many of them 3 million pixels or higher -  so the higher storage will significantly increase the number of images that can be recorded without having to replace the card. For instance, 52 images can be captured on the Fuji S1 in Fine JPEG mode.

The new 128Mb card remains the same physical size as previous 3.3v SmartMedia cards, yet stores two additional flash memory chips.

'To increase the capacity without increasing the size,' says Arthur Blanck of Delkin, 'engineers  needed to redesign the layout of the PCB board to hold a total of four 256Mbit NAND flash memory chips which, together, would act as a 1Gbit chip.'

Delkin Devices also carries a line of removable card readers and adapters for transferring images, and guarantees that all adapters are 100% compatible with the 128Mb card.

A recent addition to the range is the Delkin eFilm Pocket Reader for SmartMedia card, which is equipped with a USB connector built directly into the back for easy access.
