Detailed Image Of Fly On Ornamental Grass Awarded POTW

An image of a fly resting on some ornamental grass has been awarded the POTW accolade this week.

The image, entitled 'Fly resting on ornamental grass' is by ePz member barrywebb, and here's why we thought it deserved to win the accolade:

This a great example of what can be achieved with focus stacking. The bright red tones of the grass contrast with the green shades of the background which has been thrown into an almost graphic blur. 

The detail captured on the fly's body is marvellous - you can clearly see all the hairs and pores on the body. The image has been composed well to give the fly plenty of breathing space and create a very artistic image that really stands out due to its clarity.
