An image of a wading egret has been chosen as the Photo of the Week.
The image, called 'Reddish Egret' by ePz member jacques st-jean, stood out to the team and here's why we thought it deserved to win the accolade:
This is a simple, yet effective image in which the colours of the bird almost mirror the blue and brown tones of the water and the blurred background. The egret is a very delicate, elegant bird and this has been emphasised by its positioning in the frame - leg edging forward, neck poised to feed.
The varied textures of the feathers and the partial reflection at the bottom of the image give a very calm, serene feel to the photo. Overall this is a well-composed image that's pleasing to the eye thanks to the horizon sitting in the middle of the frame.
POTW winners currently receive a 64GB EVO MicroSDXC card with SD adapter courtesy of Samsung. See all the images that have won the accolade in the POTW gallery.
