An image of an egret taking off with a catch has been awarded the Photo of the Week accolade this week.

The image, taken by ePz member BUMBA, is titled 'E L E G A N C E' and here's why the team thought it deserved the accolade this week:

This is a very well-timed image of a beautiful and elegant bird, the egret. The bird in question has wonderful bright orange feet which contrast with the black of its legs. The feathers are a stark white, so the photographer has done a great job exposing the image perfectly so that there's still detail in the feathers and the bird doesn't look washed out or dull.

A fast shutter speed has been used to freeze the bird as well as the water droplets that are falling as it flaps its wings to take off. The shot is composed well and the vibrant greens in the background give an idea of the exotic surroundings in which the bird lives.

Members awarded the Photo of the Week accolade currently receive a 64GB MicroSD card with SD adapter courtesy of Samsung. See all the awarded images in the POTW gallery
