The image, entitled 'sharpening knife' by ePz member tadphaleuday stood out from the crowd, and here's why we thought it deserved to win: 

This is an unusual subject and viewpoint - focusing on a skill that's probably become a bit of a niche in this day and age. The blade is creating sparks as it is sharpened on the wheel, which have been captured as beautiful bokeh artefacts.

A documentary-style image, the rugged textures of the hand steadying the knife and the steely grey background give an industrial feel to the photo. It takes a mundane activity and makes it beautiful, which we love.
