Kilchurn Castle Loch Awe Angela Barnett
Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe by Angela Barnett.

ePHOTOzine member Angela Barnett, more commonly known on the site as Arwensgrace, has had her work published in the Reader's Showcase section of this month's Digital SLR magazine.

Angela, who has been a photographer for four years, specialises in Celtic photography and artwork and was contacted by Digital SLR Photography magazine after editors saw her portfolio on ePHOTOzine. Her photography will be published in the July edition of the magazine (out now) and she is understandably delighted with her accomplishment.

It's a great sense of achievement to think that I might have reached a standard at which mainstream magazines want to showcase my work. Learning the technical side of photography and how to work a camera has been a long battle for me as I am not at all technically minded, so to have my pictures chosen for a serious photography magazine means a lot to me personally.”

Having been a member of ePHOTOzine since 2004, Angela says she owes a lot of her success to the site and to the help and advice of other members:

I joined ePz in summer 2004 and have never looked back! I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing now without having joined the website. The members here have been invaluable to both my sanity and my progress in photography. I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who follows and comments on my work. Without the forums and feedback from other members I don't think I could ever have come as far as I have. Getting awards like Reader's and Editor's Choice, or being Highly Commended really spurs you on and helps boost your confidence too.”

She is now hoping that being published will lead to bigger and better things and has aspirations of opening her own gallery:

"In an ideal world I would like to eventually open and run a gallery with my partner (Dougstar on ePz) and sell both our photography alongside my digital artwork - somewhere big enough to do our own framing and printing and be able to work online too."

ePHOTOzine would like to congratulate Angela on her achievement and wish her the best of luck with her photographic career.
