ePHOTOzine's Photo of the Week winner has been chosen, and this week's winner is ePHOTOzine member PLCimagery for the image 'Hummingbird'.
The Photo of the Week (POTW) is chosen by the staff here at ePHOTOzine, and here's why we thought PLCimagery's image deserved to win the award this week:
This is a perfectly timed and executed image of a hummingbird coming in to feed on the nectar of the flowers in the bottom left of the frame. The body is perfectly in focus, yet the wings are slightly blurred, giving a real sense of motion to the image. A fast shutter speed of 1/1000 sec has been used to make sure this fast, flitting bird is captured in wonderful clarity.
The shades of green and brown in the background add texture to the shot and compliment the shades of the flower and the bird nicely. It's rare to see a hummingbird shot where the bird isn't beak deep in a flower, as they are so quick! The reflexes of the photographer are to be commended here, a really breathtaking shot.
POTW winners currently receive a £100 voucher from Albelli. Take a look at the Photo of the Week Gallery where all shots that have received the award are displayed.
