ePHOTOzine member billydo has been crowned this week's Photo of the Week (POTW) winner.

The POTW is picked by ePHOTOzine's founder and Editorial Director, Peter Bargh, once a week and here's why he thought billydo's photo, 'FFFun!', was a worthy winner:

"As photographers we spend a lot of time getting the technicalities right when photographing landscapes, wildlife, nature, etc, but we often neglect taking anything other than snap shots to record growing family members. Here we have a technically perfect photo, that captures a really fun moment of life that will be looked back on by the boy in adult life and help him recall a precious moment.

I remember as a boy falling down a small bank into rhododendron bushes. My mum laughed it off, so I didn't cry. Instead I laughed and like a Teletubbies moment did it again and again, which prompted my mum to take a snap with the 126 Instamatic camera. Posed, but enough to trigger that very early memory and the whole sequence of events.

Here the sequence is captured in a well presented triptych, in beautiful detail. Sharp defined boy and proud parents watch on, thrown out of focus to avoid our attention switching from the action, toned to remove any other distractions and give a timeless feel. The shutter speed is fast so the splash is recorded frozen. It's this sort of photo that will be cherished for many years in a family album, but equally has very high photographic merit."

POTW winners currently receive a £100 voucher from Pixum online photo printing. Take a look at the Photo of the Week Gallery where all shots that have received the award are displayed.

Thanks so much for choosing this one Pete, and for your thoughtful, well written summary too. I try to tell my customers that they will have pictures with a meaning, with a soul, and your choice of the word "timeless" is spot on!
