A photo of an Atlantic Puffin which looks as if it is bearing a floral gift has been crowned the overall winner of the 2014 Scottish Nature Photography Awards.

Johan Siggesson from Malta who captured the image and as a result, walks away with the title of 'Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year 2014' said: "When I came across this Puffin on Fair Isle, I couldn’t resist thinking that he must have some kind of hidden agenda. He looked so human with the flower in his bill. Exactly like he had been out doing something he wasn't proud of and was now on his way home to ask for forgiveness."

The competition also features awards for junior photographers (under-18s) and for students undertaking a photography element in their course.

Samuel Hood (age 17) from Killingworth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne was crowned Junior Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year 2014 for his picture, In Flight Meal, showing a barn swallow feeding its young on the wing. The Student Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year 2014 title went to Eleanor Ryder who is studying for a BA (Hons) degree in Marine and Natural History Photography at Falmouth University in Cornwall. The student award required a portfolio of three images on the theme of 'Natural Drama' and Eleanor's 'Wild Skye' portrays soft light playing on the rugged landscapes of the Isle of Skye under dramatic clouds.
