This week, a black and white image by Daffy1 has been chosen as the featured Nikon image.
Daffy1's image was taken with a Nikon D700 and here's why it stood out to us:
This is an unusual image as it's in black and white. Images of the aurora are usually in colour, to capture the stunning and bizarre light show that's produced, but this one works really well.
You still get the odd shapes of the aurora in the sky, which add an abstract feel. The snow covered mountain points the eye directly to the main event and the stars in the sky really are awe inspiring. This image proves that you don't have to follow popular conventions to capture a great image.
