FixerLabs, developers of award winning software for digital image
enhancement and enlargement, today announced the launch of its first
entry level software for image enlargement aimed at casual users.
SizeFixer Home offers the same features as the professional version for
images enlarged up to A4 size.
”There are a lot more people taking more pictures
than ever before – especially with the popularity of the
mobile phone with built in camera, “ comments Chris
Bradley-Kidd, Marketing Director for FixerLabs, “If
you combine this trend with extremely low cost A4 colour printers,
there is a huge addressable market for software that intelligently
enhances pictures for better printed results.”
FixerLabs’ range of professional digital image enhancement
and enlargement software is widely used by thousands of professional
photographers and designers across the world.
Watford based, FixerLabs have been a pioneer in the field of image
enhancement and have scooped numerous awards including a converted
Macworld editors choice award, an 8.5 out of 10 in Photoshop Creative
magazine and an in depth and complementary review in the British
journal of photography.
SizeFixer Home uses the same core engine as FixerLabs’
professional products, as Chris explains, “The
majority of shareware or bundled image manipulation software included
with consumer digital cameras and phones often use image resizing
technology based on basic interpolation algorithms which produce blocky
or distorted pictures.
“This is especially the case with mobile phone cameras which
produce good results on a tiny LCD screen but are often disappointing
when enlarged or printed out. Instead our software uses an intelligent
process which analyses each pixel and the characteristics of the
surrounding image to generate smoother curves, straighter lines and
consistent colors and tones.” Chris adds.
The only difference between FixerLabs professional range and the new
release is that the Home version is limited to A4 size enlargements
while the Professional can scale images up to A0 – The size
of a large billboard!
FixerLabs software also uses a unique database of camera types and lens
configurations to deliver improved image results. The patented LensFIT
technology supports over 300 cameras including the latest Canon EOS 5D
and Nikon D50. FixerLabs is also the first company to produce image
enhancement for specific camera phones namely the Nokia - N70 and N90
FixerLabs founder Tim Atherton developed much of the image enhancement
technology for use in the field of radio telescope imaging and similar
systems are used to decode images from the Hubble space telescope.
SizeFixer Home will initially launch via the web on 1st of February
with boxed copies available in leading high street retailers by the end
“We are currently developing Home versions
of our other products including NoiseFixer, FocusFixer and ShadowFixer
which we plan to launch later in the year.” Chris
