Own It, a new service which offers free intellectual property advice for London’s creative people is organising a free workshop for photographers on 20th January 2005, "Photographers: a practical guide to image licensing".
If you’re a professional photographer, how should you sell the rights to your images? Should it be for a fixed period of time, or for a specific use, or perhaps as a renewable option? How do you ensure you don’t get sued for your licensee’s wrongful use of your images? Should you have set terms and conditions? This event will provide a practical guide to licensing your work. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
Note: You will need a basic understanding of copyright to get the most from this workshop. This can be gained from the Own It copyright factsheet, downloadable for free from the ‘IP info’ section of the Own It website www.own-it.org. Early booking is recommended.
