The Fujifilm XF10 compact features filters, film simulations and Bluetooth for the Instagram generation.
| Fujifilm XF10 in Compact Cameras
Fujifilm has introduced a new premium compact camera that looks stylish, is very much travel-friendly and should appeal to those who are obsessed with instant sharing thanks to the numerous photo filters and Bluetooth been built in.
The Fujifilm XF10 is a similar size to the Fujifilm X70 compact camera but is lighter (280g compared with 340g) and the XF10 features a much-improved design, including a better-looking grip. As we're talking about aesthetics, the retro-inspired XF10 is available in the 'will never go out of fashion' shade of black as well as a champagne gold colour which definitely has a 70s vibe to it.
Inside the XF10 is a 24.2 megapixel APS-C sized sensor which, smartphone shooters take note, is 14x larger (size-wise, not pixel count) than most sensors in standard smartphones and carrying on the 'smart' theme, the camera features Bluetooth so it can be connected to a smart device and images/video shared instantly to Instagram, Facebook and all of the other popular social media channels. There's also a 'square mode' which allows users to switch to a 1:1 ratio so images captured with the XF10 are Instagram ready straight away. Plus, the XF10 offers 11 Film Simulation Modes and 19 Advanced Filters which includes a new mode for capturing food shots (rich & tone) and a monochrome effect which younger photographers, in particular, will no doubt love.
As you'd expect from a premium compact, 4K and High-Speed Video modes are also built-in, which means high-quality videos can be quickly captured and shared when using Bluetooth to connect the camera to a smart device.
More advanced photographers may notice that a hotshoe is missing, in comparison with the X70, which means you can't use an optical viewfinder, external flash or other accessories.
The lens is fixed at 18.5mm (equivalent to 28mm on 35mm format which is similar to several premium smartphones) with a f/2.8 aperture but the digital teleconverter function can be used to extend the XF10's reach to 35mm and 50mm on a 35mm format.
Price & Availability
The Fujifilm XF10 will be available from August 2018 with an RRP of £449.
