Fujifilm JZ700
Fujifilm has launched a new long zoom compact camera with a 14 megapixel sensor and 8x optical zoom.

The FinePix JZ700 has moved on from a CCD sensor (in previous JZ models), to a powerful CMOS sensor. The 1/2.3-inch, 14 million pixels CMOS sensor has the ability to capture details perfectly, even in the most challenging shooting conditions, such as low light scenes.

The FinePix JZ700 employs Optical Image Stabilization to compensate for camera shake and subject blurring, perfect for when the zoom is extended to the full 8x capability, and high resolution technology ensures stunning, clear results even at 16x Intelligent Digital Zoom.

The FinePix JZ700 isn't limited to taking stunning still shots. Full 1080p HD movies (30fps), can be captured on this model.

FinePix JZ700 Key Features:
  • 14MP CMOS sensor
  • 8x optical zoom (24mm-192mm)
  • 24mm wide-angle lens
  • Optical Image Stabilization
  • 2.7-inch (230K-dot) LCD
  • 8.0fps continuous shooting (max. 8 frames)
  • 1080p Full HD movie (30fps)
  • Creative "Advanced Filter"
  • Easy to use interface
  • In-camera Li-ion battery charging via USB
The Fujifilm FinePix JZ700 is available now for around £130. For more information, visit the Fujifilm website.

I photograph natural history subjects, mainly insects, and birds. My two specialities are birds in flight, and macro for insects. My main gear is an Olympus E-30 with four lenses giving me a range of 28mm to 600mm, weighing in at 20kg.
I wanted a compact camera that I could take social shots with. I'd seen the JZ700 in use, and knew that with it's CMOS sensor it could operate in very low light, without using it's inbuilt flash. It has 23 shooting modes, including 3D, 360 degree panorama, and eleven advanced filter settings, which I personally have no interest in.
All in all I'm extremely pleased with this tiny camera for it's high quality results, it's versatility, and the ease with which I can take personal snap-shots, something I haven't been able to do with my main camera. I carry it everywhere, and could take brilliant shots at a BritFloyd concert without being a pain with the surrounding audience. I picked one up in PC World (UK) for 80.00.
BTW This camera does NOT have WiFi.
