| Fujifilm XF 18mm f/1.4 R LM WR in Interchangeable Lenses
We've been shooting with the brand new Fujifilm Fujinon XF 18mm f/1.4 R LM WR, a wide-angle lens equivalent to 27mm (in 35mm equivalent terms), with a bright f/1.4 aperture, weather-resistance, and a 62mm filter thread. The lens features a manual aperture ring with settings from f/1.4 to f/16, as well as A, which you can use to set the aperture to Automatic / or control via the camera's dials. As we were provided with a pre-production sample we were not able to test the lens in the usual way, and with limited time using the lens, it would not be fair to give a full verdict. However, we can say that the lens has excellent build quality, and had smooth focus, good controls, and felt extremely well built. With an f/1.4 aperture, and a close focusing distance (11cm from the front of the lens), it's possible to get close to subjects, and have a smooth bokeh (blurred background). The lens was resistant to flare, and the provided lens hood helps here.
