Getty Images is rebranding iStockphoto as iStock by Getty Images, a change that comes seven years after Getty acquired the startup – the web’s original resource for crowd-sourced royalty-free stock images, media and design elements.

The brand relaunch was born out of a holistic review of how iStock could be more customer-centric and help creatives do their best work. Through customer research, iStock learned that its community sees Getty Images as an iconic prestige brand and many were unaware that iStock was owned by Getty Images.

Today’s rebrand marries the freshness, innovation and strength of the iStock brand with the quality, heritage and credibility of Getty Images. It also adds consistency to and showcases the Getty Images family of brands, following the rebrand of Thinkstock by Getty Images earlier this year.
