GigaPan is inviting photographers to create a gigapixel panorama that captures the excitement of the 2012 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games – an event, crowd, amazing view, beauty of London –and upload it to the free gigapixel panorama viewing web site, GigaPan.com. Members of the site can zoom in and explore each image and then vote by rating their favourite shots. Membership is free.

The top 10 rated images will be named the GigaPan 2012 Summer Olympic Finalists. The winning image will be chosen by David Bergman, the photographer who captured world famous gigapan of President Obama’s Inaugural address, and will win a $250 gift card, sponsored by Adorama.

The contest is open for entries through to September 17 2012. Voting begins on September 18 2012 and ends on October 16 2012. Finalists and the top winner will be announced on November 1 2012.

Competition details are available at GigaPan's website.
