Gitzo Traveler Kit GK0545T-82TQD Tripod Review: Traveler Kit GK0545T-82TQD

Gitzo has long been a name associated with quality in the tripod market. Their latest Traveler range feature 180-degree folding legs pioneered by Gitzo to keep everything as compact and neat as possible. Made in Italy with carbon eXact tubes made from high modulus carbon fibre, there are 3 series available, 0 being the slimmest and lightest, 1 giving more height and 5 leg sections while 2 series are super stable with wider diameter legs and ideal for those using longer lenses.

On test here is the GK0545T-82TQD, a 0 series tripod with a Center Ball Head with ultra smooth WS2 ball coating.

Gitzo Traveler Kit GK0545T-82TQD Tripod Features

This 0 Series Traveller tripod and head kit weighs just 1.3kg and folds away to only 36.5cm in length. It features 180-degree folding legs with 2 angle options. Simply pull them down and wait for the click.

The legs have 4 sections and there are well-textured rubber grips that have traveler G-Lock, ensuring good grip. Each one features an internal O-ring achieving softer operation and reducing the amount of dust and grit entering the locks.

The centre column has its own G-Lock which allows you to slide it downwards to whatever height you need. It's also removable and reversible. An insert is provided so that if you want to carry out very low-level work you can attach the head without the centre column getting in the way.

The ball head provided features 3 grippy knobs. One to lock and unlock the panning, one to lock and unlock the ball head and one to release the plate for your camera. There is also a built-in spirit level.
