A beautiful image of a grouse peering over some heather has been awarded the Photo of the Week accolade this week.
The image, by ePz member Tazni, is called 'Heather Grouse' and here's why the team at ePHOTOzine thought it deserved to win the accolade:
This is a charming image of a red grouse peering above a patch of heather. The background and foreground is blurred, but there is just enough detail in the middle ground to make out some of the flower shapes.
We love the dusky pink tones that the heather gives to the surround of the grouse. Its mottled black, brown and beige feathers make it stand out in the frame and they offset nicely with the greens and pinks.
Rule of thirds has been used well to offset the bird from the centre and the bird is looking straight at the camera but facing into the frame, making it a really pleasing composition.
Winners of the POTW accolade currently receive a 32GB MicroSDHC card with SD adapter from Samsung. See all the images that have won the award in the POTW gallery.
