Canon has introduced a new trio of IXUS compact cameras: 285 HS, 180 and 175 to the World and all will be available by the end of January for under £200.
The IXUS 285 HS, 180 and 175 are updates of the IXUS 275 HS, 170 and 160 respectively and all three feature an ultra wide-angle lens with either an 8x, 10x or 12x optical zoom. For those wanting to add further reach, all three cameras come equipped with ZoomPlus and an Auto Zoom function is also built-in. There's also a dedicated Movie Record Button found on all models and a built-in DIGIC 4+ processor, Wi-Fi and Dynamic NFC functionalities.
Where they differ slightly is in CMOS sensor size with the IXUS 285 HS featuring a 20.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, while the IXUS 180 and IXUS 175 pack a 20MP sensor. The IXUS 285 HS also features Creative Shot and Story Highlights, something that's not found on the other two new IXUS cameras. The IXUS 360 HS has 1080p Full HD video capabilities while the 175 and 180 only capture 720p HD video.
Thanks to their compact size, all three cameras fit well in the hand and function buttons are well placed. The screens are bright and menus easy to read / navigate, plus function buttons are clearly marked and easy to use.
