Held every two years, the Hasselblad Masters 2014 competition was the most hotly contested ever, with entry levels surging from 2500 for the 2012 event up to nearly 4000 this time around, due in no small part to the decision to open it up to a wider audience. For the first time not only users of medium or large format cameras but also active professionals with over three years experience using cameras that offered resolution of 16MP or above were invited to enter, and it has all helped to raise the status of the competition to a higher level still.
"We're delighted with the number of entries the Hasselblad Masters 2014 competition attracted," says Hasselblad's Global Photographer Relations Manager Paul Waterworth. "The standard was extraordinarily high this time around, and the category winners can be truly proud of their achievement. It's a sign of the prestige that is now attached to this competition that it is attracting entries from some of the best photographers working in the world today, and when you look at the winners as a group you realise just how special your work has to be for you to be named a Master."
