| Huawei Honor 8X in Camera Phones
Honor likes to be known for pushing the boundaries of smartphone innovation so when they release a new device, it's always exciting to see what new features they've brought to the table.
The company is known for bringing flagship features to budget-friendly devices and with the introduction of the Honor 8X priced at a very reasonable £239, it seems this trend is continuing.
But, what exactly does the Honor 8X bring that's new and/or improved over the Honor 7X which will, no doubt, now drop in price so could prove to be an even better bargain.
Let's find out as we compare the key specs of both smartphones side-by-side:

Cameras
The main lens on the rear of the Honor 8X has had an upgrade, going from 16MP on the Honor 7X to 20MP on the new smartphone. It's still a dual lens and the second lens has 2MP as the Honor 7X did but the smartphone is now AI enabled to help users take better photos with ease.
The selfie camera has also had an upgrade, doubling the number of megapixels from 8 to 16.
Camera Features
AI is used to recognise over 500 scenarios in 22 categories so the best settings for the scene in front of you are selected before you hit the shutter button. The AI can also help produce better night shots and brighten faces when backlit (see our hands-on for more details).
New to the Honor 8X is Sport shot which automatically detects motion and increases the shutter speed, super slo-mo video capture, 3D portrait lighting for better portraits and '4 Cell fusion and multi-frame image processing' which allows twice as much light to be captured by the front camera.
Screen
On the Honor 8X is a 6.5-inch screen which is bigger than the 5.93-inch screen found on the Honor 7X, however, the Honor 8X is bigger in overall body size. Having said that, thanks to some clever technology, the screen-to-body ratio on the Honor 8X is 91% which beats some of the most expensive flagship phones in the market, including iPhone X (82.9%) and Samsung S9 (83.1%).
Battery
The battery is improved on the Honor 8X (3750mAH compared with 3340mAH on the Honor 7X) and it also features 'Intelligent Power Saving technology' which Honor says will increase the battery life by 33% but fast charging still isn't supported.
Chipset
The Honor 8X features the Kirin 710 chipset which, when compared with the Kirin 659 chipset found in the Honor 7X, will mean you can process images and edit video footage much quicker.
Price
The Honor 8X will be available for £239 which makes it a budget-friendly smartphone that offers some interesting specs that you'd expect to pay more money for. The Honor 7X is currently available for £220 so there's not that much difference in the price but this could drop even further as the Honor 8X is now on sale.
We will, of course, be putting the Honor 8X through its paces but for now, have a look at our Honor 8X hands-on or take a look at the Honor 7X review.
