Here's a bit of Saturday fun for you: How do you pronounce the word 'bokeh'?

It's an argument that's nearly as old as photography itself but Photogearnews have attempted to settle the debate by asking photographers who attended The Photography Show how the Japanese word should be pronounced.

For the majority of the video, the right pronunciation is as clear as mud as everyone they asked, as suspected, had a different way to pronounce the word used to describe the lovely out of focus area in a photograph.

The team ended the video by finding a Japanese person, Ryu Nagase, Canon's Consumer Imaging Group Product Management Director to be precise, but he couldn't give a concrete answer either as, apparently, different areas of Japan pronounce the word differently. So... it looks like the 'bo-keh, 'bo-ka', 'bo... however you want to say it' argument will continue.

If you want to learn a little more about bokeh, we have a tutorial all about creating it and we also have a top 27 list of lenses that are ideal for creating bokeh in portraits that's well worth checking out.

Have a fab weekend everyone!
