For precise colour utilisation, colour settings should be first adjusted to the requirements of each job and here's how you do this in Photoshop:
1. Open Colour Settings Menu
Go to the 'Edit' menu and select 'Colour Settings' (Shift+Cntrl+K) to open a new window where various options are available.
2. Working Spaces
It is convenient to have the profile for your normal digital workflow set up in advance.
Under RGB: Typically, “sRGB” or “Adobe RGB” should be selected.
Under CMYK: make a selection according to the colour standard used in the workflow. When re-embedding the image profile, make selections based on the back-end workflow and the type of end deliverable.
3. Colour Management Policies
From all dropdowns, select: 'Preserve Embedded Profiles.'
Select all check boxes so it is possible to make positive identification either when files that have embedded profiles do not match the “Working Spaces”, or when files without an embedded profile are being opened. (Recommended).
