In their latest tutorial, COOPH is sharing another quick hack for smartphone photography.
| Camera Phones
Our friends COOPH are back with a DIY hack for smartphone users but this one comes with a warning - you do it at your own risk as all smartphones come with a varying level of water resistance so if you do damage your own phone, it's your fault (you decided to way up the risks and try out the tutorial anyway).
Right, warning aside, this quick tutorial demonstrates a quick and easy way to make water-resistant housing for your smartphone out of things you're likely to have at home, such as a clear lunchbox, an airtight lid and some strong tape (think ducktape strong)
To ensure the container is airtight, put a paper towel inside it and seal it shut. Put the said container in a sink full of water, take it back out and check that the towel isn't wet.

Next, you just need to secure the smartphone in the container, open up your phone's app, hit record (you can always use a timelapse feature to record single images at a certain rate rather than capturing video) and seal the container back up.
No matter how cool and money-saving this might seem, we're not going to be putting our iPhones and Android smartphones into a lunchbox any time soon and again, if you do, it's at your own risk - we haven't told you to do it!
Instead of trying a DIY method, you can purchase waterproof housing for smartphones or you could try shooting with an action camera, such as a GoPro.
