Panning's a rather simple technique that when mastered, can help you capture striking images of various moving subjects. The key to mastering it is to really just get out there and try it but that doesn't mean we can't give you a few hints and tips to help you on your way.

In the following video, Gavin Hoey takes on the challenge of photographing the many cyclists riding around the city of Amsterdam to bring you some simple hints and tips that'll help you perfect the panning technique. Plus, there's a few bonus Photoshop tips on dealing with distracting colours in the background of photos.
