Huawei P30 Pro

Huawei have announced a new and updated version of the flagship P30 Pro smartphone at IFA 2019.

The new P30 Pro is available in two new colours with a part matte and part glossy surface - a mystic blue and misty lavender. Most interestingly though for us photographers, is that the new edition of the phone has 'newly upgraded photo and video editing features'. Unfortunately, no details of exactly what this means have been released yet.

The new P30 Pro also has EMUI 10, the latest edition of Huawei's Android user interface, for a 'smoother and smart life experience'. This could be the final device from Huawei to feature Android 10, as Google reportedly revealed that Huawei's Mate 30, due for release later this month, won't be able to ship with Google Apps & services pre-installed (via theverge).

Kirin 5G processor

New Kirin 990 (5G) processor

Huawei also announced a new powerful processor - the Kirin 990 (5G).

"for photography, Kirin 990 (5G) provides a brand-new ISP 5.0 that pioneers block-matching and 3D filtering (BM3D) professional-level hardware noise reduction (NR) for capturing brighter and sharper images in low light environments. It is also the first to use dual-domain video NR for more accurate noise processing for videos. In addition, the real-time video post-processing and rendering based on AI segmentation can adjust the image color frame by frame to bring cinematic quality." - Huawei.

Unfortunately, the new P30 Pro doesn't have the new processor, but the Mate 30 due for release later this month (September 2019) will.

A lot of exciting new products have come out of IFA 2019, including the Sony Xperia 5 smartphone and Super compact PNY SSDs
