Huawei has unveiled the Mate 9, a premium smartphone with a Leica dual camera built-in.
| Mate 9 in Camera PhonesHuawei has announced the Mate 9 smartphone, a new premium model featuring an impressive dual Leica camera.
The second generation Leica camera sports a 12 megapixel RGB sensor and 20 megapixel monochrome sensor. Huawei say they work together - the RGB sensor capturing vivid colours and the monochrome sensor picking out the finer details. The technology was first used in Huawei's P9 smartphone, released back in April 2016.
The camera also features optical image stabilisation, advanced 4 hybrid autofocus, depth ISP performance and are built with Leica Summarit lenses.
The Mate 9 also possesses a refocusing capability, so after you've taken the image you can adjust which part is in focus, right there in the handset.
There is also an 8 megapixel selfie camera on the front. The camera is capable of 4K video recording, which can be viewed on the 1080p fullHD 5.9 inch screen. There will also be a special edition Porsche design model available, with a curved 2K display 5.5 inch screen.
The standard edition will retail for around £622, while the Porsche design handset will retail for around £1240.
