Huawei has introduced the nova 5T smartphone with a rear quad-camera, 32MP selfie camera and an AI HDR+ shooting mode.

In total, there are 5 cameras (four rear and one front-facing camera) which sit alongside a 6.26-inch Huawei Punch FullView Display (with selfie camera cut out of the screen) and a Kirin 980 AI chipset. The nova 5T also operates EMUI 9.1 and Android 9 (Pie), with full Google Mobile Services. 

Following in the footsteps of the Huawei P and Mate Series, the nova 5T has 4 rear cameras: 48MP f/1.8 lens, 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle lens, 2MP f/2.4 macro lens and a 2MP f/2.4 bokeh lens. On the front is a 32MP f/2.0 selfie camera.

The AI HDR+ shooting mode takes a number of images in one shot, merging the best parts of each photo together and there's also a Super Night Mode which uses AI Image Stabilisation (AIS) and intelligent light sensing. Both modes have been seen on previous Huawei smartphones so we expect other modes, such as aperture and portrait, to also appear, too. 

Video is captured at either 2160p (30fps) or 1080p (30/60fps) and an AI-enhanced video editing feature automatically recognises recurring subjects in videos, creating edited subject-based content.

The Huawei nova 5T comes with 6GB of RAM/128GB of internal storage, 3750mAh battery (SuperCharge available so the battery goes from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes) and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. 

Available in Crush Blue, Dark Black, and Midsummer Purple with the familiar multi-layered 3D effect that gives the Huawei handsets a holographic look, the Huawei nova 5T will be available from November 2019 at an RRP of £399 which puts it into a very busy mid-range smartphone market.
