Yesterday, Huawei announced a new flagship smartphone and it's already been named the best smartphone camera DxO has tested so far.

The Huawei P20 Pro scored 109 (114 for photo and 98 for video), beating the DxO Mark Mobile score for both the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus (99 score) and the popular Google Pixel 2 (98 score).

Commenting on the Huawei P20 Pro's performance, DxO said: "We are used to every new smartphone camera generation being slightly better than the previous one, but looking at the images and test results from the P20 Pro, it seems Huawei has skipped one or two generations. The results are simply that good. The P20 Pro’s triple camera setup is the biggest innovation we have seen in mobile imaging for quite some time and is a real game changer."

The Huawei P20 also scored well collecting a total of 102 points (107 for photo and 94 for video) and sliding into 2nd place as a result.

The top 5 in the DxO Mark Mobile table now looks like this:

Which, minus the new Huawei phones which we are yet to test, is the same order we've rated these smartphones in our 'Best Camera Phones For Photography 2018' top list.

Well done Huawei.
I really like the low light no tripod feature. This Digital extreme IS/VR/OS sound like a neat feature in lots of cameras taking static scenes.

Always seen some great images on my wife's Huawei and it's one of the cheap ones, this looks like the one to go for, at the moment anyway.
