Huawei Says 'Reduction In Smartphone Production Orders' Claim Is False

Huawei has reportedly reduced the number of smartphones it has ordered from its manufacturing partner. However, the tech giant has released a statement refuting the claims.

To say Huawei has had a tough few weeks is a slight understatement and, if reports are anything to go by, it seems the USA crack-down on the smartphone giant has resulted in fewer orders appearing on the Foxconn production list.

Foxconn is Huawei's manufacturing partner and according to a report in the South China Morning Post, who say they spoke to a source at Foxconn, Foxconn has removed several Huawei production lines after Huawei reduced its order size.

However, a Huawei spokesperson has said this is simply not true, telling ePHOTOzine that:

"Huawei refutes these claims. Our global production levels are normal, with no notable adjustments in either direction.”

Huawei is the world's second-biggest smartphone maker, sitting between Samsung (at the top) and Apple who Huawei pushed into third place. The tech giant was hoping to overtake Samsung in the smartphone race but with the likes of Google restricting access to its technology/apps and the continuing battle with the USA, it might not be a goal Huawei sees happening as soon as they may have hoped.

As well as having the Huawei range, Huawei is also the parent company of the more budget-friendly Honor range of smartphones and the Honor 20 Pro series was introduced to the world on 21 May. As of yet, we've not written our full review of the Honor 20 Pro series but we did get hands-on with the devices at the launch event.
