A stunning capture of a hummingbird frozen in flight has been awarded the Photo of the Week accolade this week.
The image, titled 'Hanging Hummer' by ePz member TimMunsey was chosen by the team to win the accolade and here's why we thought it deserved to win the accolade:
This is an exemplary image of a bird that is notoriously difficult to capture images of that are fully sharp. The hummingbird is a really beautiful bird and this is shown really well in this image. Irridescent green feathers give way to white belly feathers and every little texture can be seen thanks to the sharpness of the capture.
It seems as if the bird is looking straight into the lens, and the smoothly blurred background despite having the same colour palette as the bird serves to highlight its form perfectly. It almost jumps out of the image.
Photo of the Week winners currently receive a 32GB MicroSDHC card from Samsung. See all the images that have been awarded the accolade in the POTW gallery.
