A picture of the night time demolition of a bridge over the M1 Jct 10 has won first prize in the ICE East of England Photographic Competition netting Tony Marsh £350. He is working on the Balfour Beatty Skanska Joint Venture to widen the M1 from junction 6A-10. Tony used a Canon 400D with Canon 17-40L lens at ISO1600, 1/10s at an aperture of f/5.
This was the first time ICE East of England has run the competition which attracted 24 entries. The criteria was simply a picture that would illustrate civil engineering to wider audience. The panel of five judges, three of them professional photographers included award winning landscape photographer Jon Gibbs. He said of Tony's picture "Great use of available light, the yellow diggers go well against the blue sky, great image".
