'First light at Sherwood', the winning image by Dianna Jazwinski.
IGPOTY (International Garden Photographer Of The Year) have chosen the winners for the Photo Project category on the theme of 'Monochrome'.
First place went to Dianna Jazwinski, for her beautiful image 'First light at Sherwood', taken in Sherwood Gardens, Devon. "I liked how the shaft of sunlight and the juxtaposition of the trees framed the Magnolia tree in the distance which seemed to glow, in tandem with the light. I am also drawn to the sculptural quality of bare trees which are always beautifully enhanced by mist." Said Dianna.
Second place went to Edward Jones for his image 'Fritilliary', and third place was awarded to Gosta Lindbom for the image 'Time Out'.
This is the first of three Photo projects that will run throughout the year. IGPOTY CEO Philip Smith said: "Black and white imagery with its wonderful historical tradition, provides the photographer with a different range of challenges and creative opportunities. The winning images offer us an original and refreshing view of the world of plants and gardens."
