Ilford, a major player in the development and manufacture of photo quality media for inkjet printing and photographic processes, announced today its presence at Focus on Imaging where the company will showcase its Galerie range including the award winning Galerie Gold media. Ilford will be present on the stand of their exclusive Distributor for the UK photo retail channel, JP Distribution.

Specifically designed to meet the demanding needs of today’s professional imaging market and digital artist, the Galerie range of inkjet media will be displayed:

Galerie Gold Fibre Silk
The award winning Galerie Gold Fibre Silk will be making its first appearance at Focus on Imaging. Ilford have created Galerie Gold Fibre Silk, a 310gsm inkjet media featuring a traditional barium sulphate (baryta) base. The baryta enhances the media surface which gives the creamy whites and velvety blacks that form part of the unique look and feel of a true fibre print; the standard amongst art photographers worldwide. The media also produces real high definition images with an extended tonal range, making it a must for exhibition quality images ranging from vivid colour to dramatic black and whites.

“The optimum combination of the base and the coating, together with the media’s excellent archival properties makes Ilford Galerie Gold the perfect complement to the Ilford Galerie Smooth and Classic ranges,” said Andrew Stewart, Sales and Marketing Director, Ilford Imaging Switzerland GmbH. “When used with pigment ink printers, such as Epson and Canon desktop or wide format models, the results are simply stunning."

What Digital Camera magazine in their awards 2007 issue 130 gave Ilford Galerie Gold the Best Photo Paper whilst commenting “while colour prints look stunning, black & white and toned prints are gorgeous, making this a sure-fire hit."

When obtaining the Gold award in Photography Monthly Jan 08 issue the magazine stated “If you care about your prints – colour or mono – this is the paper for you”.

Amateur Photographer magazine on the 12th Jan wrote “As well as looking great, prints on Galerie Gold Fibre Silk feel lovely in the hand” when awarding four stars.

Professional Image Maker Dec-Jan 08 issue said “If anything makes this offering stand out from its rivals it is the flawless surface finish. I suppose we could expect nothing less from the company with probably the greatest experience in applying baryta coatings over the last two centuries”.

Professional Photographer Jan 08 when rating the Galerie Gold Fibre Silk with 4 stars said “Its feel is the same as a high-quality fibre-based photographic paper, making it ideal for print sales and portfolios alike”.

Steve Hynes wrote in the December 07 edition of the Photographer magazine “I’m very impressed with this material. It’s a good all-round paper for exhibition quality prints, but in particular it has sorted a long-term problem with the Epson 3800’s inability to produce neutral prints in monochrome”.
