A macro image of an alien-like beetle has been awarded the POTW accolade this week - read on to find out why we chose it to win.
| ePHOTOzineAn imposing macro image of an iridescent beetle has been awarded the Photo of the Week accolade.
The image was taken by ePz member stu8fish and is titled 'Thick Legged Beetle'. Here's why we thought it deserved to win the accolade:
This frame-filling macro gets unbelievably close to the subject - the time taken in focus stacking the shots to achieve this one epic image has certainly paid off. There are loads of different textures at play here, from the wrinkled forehead to the beaded eyes and the hairs on the head, body and legs. The black background really allows the colours on the beetle to stand out.
The creature really does look like it could be a giant alien, coming to capture you. It's a great example of what can be achieved during lockdown.
Photo of the Week winners receive a 64GB MicroSD card courtesy of Samsung. Please note that there will be a delay in sending these out due to the current situation. See all the images that have won the accolade in the POTW gallery.
