Mark Mann is a portrait photographer who's photographed many a celebrity and musician, producing eye-catching images of icons that impress and now, he's featured on the YouTube channel Complicated Things, discussing his career as well as sharing some great tips for capturing amazing portrait photos.
This is actually a series Complicated Things is working on and in this particular episode, Mark, who the channel part belongs to, talks about what it was like photographing Alice Cooper, Christina Hendricks, Redman, Antonio Banderas, and John Boyega. He talks about Alice Cooper's pre-performance rituals which include knife throwing, working within strict rules from Disney during John Boyega's "Star Wars" shoot where a helmet was brought to the shoot in a lockbox with security and more. He also talks about some of the camera gear and lenses that work best for him, his lighting techniques, and even the classic artwork that has inspired his celebrity portrait photography.
