The Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) is set to participate in the India Photo Video Trade Fair in the Indian city of Ahmedabad from 20-22 September 2013.
As part of a global tour taking Dubai's vision of photography around the world, the award is set to visit India's 'most successful imaging and photo-video exhibition' for the first time.
Commenting on the latest developments, the Assistant Secretary General of HIPA, Sahar Al Zarei said: "We are most definitely interested in spreading the art of photography and Dubai's passion for photography to an international crowd reflective of HIPA's ambition. The Indian photographic community has a lot to offer HIPA in terms of submissions for this season, as some of the award's categories such as 'Creating the Future' and 'Street Life' can be seen every day walking down the streets of a city such as Ahmedabad."
Al Zarei continued:"India is also an important market for photography due to the many talented photographers that have access to limitless natural and urban beauty all around them. We will be hosting photographic lectures at our 'India Photo Video Trade Fair' stand much like we did at 'PhotoImage Brasil' last month. We will also be holding a press conference to introduce HIPA to the Indian press and familiarise them with the vision of the award for global photography."
Currently in its third season of competition, the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award is set to be the richest photography award in the world for the second season running.
Founded in 2011 under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, the award is set to boast a grand prize of $120,000 and an overall prize pool of $389,000.
