Instagram has introduced a Focus mode you don't need two lenses on a smartphone to create.
| Industry News
Instagram is helping you perfect those selfies and portraits with the help of a new Focus mode that softly blurs the background of images.
Just as the portrait mode on the iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus does, the new 'Focus' mode built into the Instagram app creates bokeh in the background of portrait shots so you and your friends 'pop' from the frame. However, you don't need a dual, or even triple, lens smartphone for the effect to work as it's all done in the app.
To take a photo with the 'Focus' mode, you just need to find the option (it's under the record button) and tap to take a photo or hold to record a video. You can then add the usual Instagram filter, stickers or text to your images and videos before sharing them.
This update is available as part of Instagram version 39.0 for iOS in the Apple App Store and for Android in Google Play but currently, it's only available on iPhone SE, 6S, 6S+, 7, 7+, 8, 8+ and X and select Android devices.
