Camera retailer Jessops is the latest high street victim of the pandemic with several stores and jobs at risk after the company announces it will be restructuring the business.
| Industry News
It was announced over the weekend that Jessops has filed a notice to appoint administrators to help restructure the business as the Covid-19 Pandemic has hit the company hard.
According to the BBC, the retailer will still open its doors when lockdown restrictions lift on non-essential shops in April but it is considering a Company Voluntary Arrangement so an agreement can be reached with creditors to pay off debts.
The high street camera retailer employs 120 people and has 17 stores which are owned by Peter Jones who's famous for his role on Dragons' Den. Peter Jones purchased the company from administrators in 2013 and in October 2019, a similar notice to what we've seen over the weekend was once again filed.
Jessops aren't the only company that have met some difficult challenges due to the Covid-19 Pandemic as last year, Nikon reported the temporary closure of its repair service centre (now open again), Canon shut factories in Japan and The Photography Show was postponed then held online later in 2020.
