Jessops Photo Canvas Print Features

Jessops Photo canvas prints use a 12 colour print process on polycotton which is then stretch mounted over a wooden frame. The prints range in size from 20x30cm for £27 up to 90x160cm for £145.  Watch out for offers, at the time of writing Jessops Photo have a voucher code giving 20% discount as a Mothers Day offer.

Jessops Photo Canvas Print Ordering

Jessop Canvas Printing Review: Jessops Canvas Photo uploadingThe first screen you see when clicking on the online order a canvas button is where you select a canvas size and, if required, a layout and / or outer frame.

You upload photos here too. I saved my image at the right size for the canvas I wanted printing - 60x80cm and at 240dpi. It took just under 5min to upload a 20Mb compressed jpg file.

The photos you upload appear on the left of the web page with an illustration of the canvas in the middle and the editing tools on the right (see the illustration at the top of this page). Clicking on the photo you want printing refreshes the page and your photo appears on the illustration of the canvas, with an icon showing whether the image quality is good enough or not. This is based on the file size and as I'd prepared mine before uploading I got a green smilie, indicating I was good to go.

With a canvas you have to allow for it to wrap around on the wooden frame and this is also shown on the illustration. You do have a small amount of play to adjust position and the instructions state that you should allow three centimeters for this edge wrap.

Jessop Canvas Printing Review: Jessops Canvas Photo statusOnce you've adjusted the photo so it's positioned correctly on the canvas it's time to add the job to the shopping basket where you will be then asked to log in or register.

Once registered the system takes you through the payment process and it's here where you select the branch you want to collect the canvas from. Jessops Photo have branches all over the country so you shouldn't have a problem finding one near you. You can, however, chose to have it delivered to your home or work place and pay an extra £2.93 for shipping.

When you've added these details and clicked ok it should then confirm the order. I got a blank screen at this stage, but luckily I had my email open so I saw the immediate delivery of two emails... one a welcome for signing up message with an offer of 40 free 6x4 prints and the other an order confirmation saying two more emails would follow to confirm when the order has been dispatched and when it is ready to collect from my chosen Jessops Photo store.

I logged back into my Jessops Photo online account and checked the system which showed my order had been accepted. It's here you can trace the order, although with the number of confirmation emails I found that unnecessary.

The order was placed on Monday at around 4pm. It said 5pm on the webpage - Cewe are German based company so I assume it's set up for their time but it's not a difficult thing to have a country based timer.

On Wednesday at 3.40pm I received an email informing me that the order had been dispatched.
On Thursday at 11.22am another email came telling me the order was ready for collection.
This was much quicker than the stated turnaround time of seven days.

The canvas is wrapped in plastic bag and packed in a cardboard box.

Quality is good, although not quite up to the standard of a specialist canvas printers such as PhotoArtisty. It certainly does your shot justice, there's a small reduction in sharpness in the printing process, but colours were faithfully reproduced.

The canvas is wrapped tightly over the corners of the frame, although the fold is at an angle and you get a tiny amount of bulge, compared with the PhotoArtistry one where the wrap is flush to the edge.

It's mounted on a lightweight wooden frame. You also get two eyelets and cord to fasten to the frame so you can hang it. Some come ready prepared but it's a quick job to screw the two eylets in and tie the cord.

Thank you for giving me gifts that are unique and special. I've purchased canvas frames for all of my siblings and can't wait until they open them.
