Handling and Performance

The Jo Totes Missy is retailed as a modern camera bag with a retro twist. It looks just like a large handbag, and can fit a camera body and four extra lenses, as well as your personal effects and a 13 inch tablet or laptop. It is available in black, brown and mint. We took a look at the mint version.

Jo Totes Missy Camera Bag Handling and Performance

The Jo Totes Missy is a very stylish bag that doesn't look at all like a camera bag from the outside. It is well made and is comfortable to have on your shoulder. A nice touch is the adjustable cross body strap which enables you to wear the bag as more of a satchel as well as also still being able to wear it as a traditional handbag.

You can comfortably fit a DSLR and a couple of extra lenses in the bag. A DSLR can also be easily placed lens down into the bag using two pads for support if there is a lens attached. The interior is lined with the soft side of velcro, and the five detachable pads have three tabs so they can be securely attached to the bottom and both sides of the bag wherever required to fit your equipment. The bag has two external flap pockets secured by magnetic poppers on the front. It also features a small zippered pocket on the back. Inside, the bag has a 13" laptop sleeve, which can also be used for a notebook or diary as shown below, and two internal zippered pockets on the front and the back walls.

The bag feels really well made and is padded throughout, making it really safe to store your equipment in. It is comfortable to wear and provides easy access to your equipment, especially when worn as a satchel. The great thing about this bag is its inconspicuous and stylish facade. No one would immediately know this was a camera bag, making it ideal when out and about around town. The bag can also be used as a regular handbag by removing all the divider pads.

Value for money

The Jo Totes Missy bag retails for £119.99, and is available from CosyCameras. The bag is not cheap, but in terms of the quality and style it offers, it is not a high price to pay compared to some of the other normal handbags of this size out there!

Jo Totes provides a range of camera bags aimed at women, in various styles from satchel to smaller more dressy handbags fitting a varied amount of equipment. CosyCameras also sell other ranges of handbag style camera bags, including Cheeky Lime, which make a more casual colourful camera satchel that fits a camera body and three lenses, and retails for £94.99. On the other end of the spectrum there is Pompidoo, whose camera bag only fits a DSLR and two lenses but retails for £259.99. There is also the Kelly Moore Chapel bag for £159, which we reviewed a while back.

Jo Totes Missy Camera Bag Verdict

Overall, the Jo Totes Missy bag is a versatile option for the female photographer that wants enough room for DSLR equipment as well as a laptop or tablet and other day-to-day accessories. It's great for remaining inconspicuous with your camera gear. It is well made and can also be used as a normal handbag by removing the dividers, making it super versatile.

The Jo Totes Missy bag is ideal for the female photographer about town.
