K I Lens Kickstarter Coming To Bring Lightfield Photography To DSLRs

The K|Lens One is a new lens designed to bring Lightfield photography to Full-frame cameras, so that you can create a depth map of the scene for further processing.

K|Lens One is a new 80mm lens designed to bring "Lightfield" camera technology to any full-frame camera, giving depth information. It's currently in development, and has a variable aperture, with an f/0.9 virtual maximum aperture. Focus is manual, and the minimum focusing distance is 60cm. The lens will weigh less than 1000g, and includes a Photoshop Plugin so that you can view the depth map, and control the image, changing the focus point and other aspects after taking the photo. Pricing has not yet been announced.

What is the K | Lens One?

It's a manual focus lens, designed to let you take light-field photographs with your current full-frame camera. It records a colour image, as well as depth information. They have shared more details, including that it will work also with video, as well as stills images.

The lens is due to be offered on Kickstarter in Autumn 2020, order from September 2020.
