Tokina have created a filter that features a hydrophilic coating that prevents water from beading on its front surface when photographing or recording under rain or other wet conditions.

The Tokina Hydrophilic Coating Protector Filter repels moisture but creates no additional coloration or contrast, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. Plus, a photocatalyst layer between the hydrophilic coating and the underlying glass restores the hydrophilic coating's effect after it comes into significant contact with moisture. This is done by exposing the front of the filter to ultraviolet light for four hours or sunlight for eight hours under dry conditions.

Aside from moisture, scratches and other elements are prevented from reaching or damaging a lens while the Tokina Hydrophilic Protector Filter is in use.

This filter is constructed from hardened optical glass for durability, clarity, and color fidelity. A thin filter ring is also featured to minimise the potential for vignetting.

The Tokina Hydrophilic Coating Protector Filter is available as 77, 82, 86, 95, 105,112, and 127mm round filters, plus a 4 x 4inch square filter. Prices start at £299.00 inc VAT for the 77mm round size.

The website link includes the word cinema so perhaps this is not really aimed at stills photography.
