The competition is titled 'The Kentmere Student & Open Photographic Awards 2002'



There is an open theme to encourage photographers to apply their full creative talent without constraint.



Kentmere will appoint a panel of judges who will award first, second and third prizes. Where relevant a highly commended certificate will be awarded to images judged to warrant recognition.

3. GCSE/A-Level/National Diploma/Certificate/GNVQ

4. Open - B&W prints

5. Open - Ink Jet prints


Prizes will be awarded to those entrants whose prints are judged to show the best standard and presentation, as well as the most originality and creativity. The correct choice of media/paper to suit the image will also be considered.


Categories and Prizes

In each category the winner will receive 250, the second and third prizewinners will receive 150 and 100 respectively - total prize money 2,500. In addition, a donation of Kentmere paper will be made to the colleges/school where the three student category winners are studying.



It is the entrant's responsibility to ensure that there is no breach of copyright relating to any print entered for the Competition. Additionally, it is the entrant's responsibility to obtain any model release, licence or any other permission relating to any print entered for the competition.



All winning photographs will be displayed at various photography exhibitions in 2002/3 and published in the photographic press. The organisers retain the right to reproduce any winning photograph without payment of a further fee, when used in any publicity connected to this competition and future Kentmere Student & Open Photographic Awards. All pictures displayed/reproduced will be credited to the photographer and college, wherever possible.



All reasonable care will be taken of entry submissions. However, the organisers will not be held responsible for any non-receipt, loss or damage of any prints. Prints with a value higher than the cost of materials should be covered by adequate insurance.
